Popular Structures and Statues in India That Have Been Made under The NDA Government

7 World Famous Structures and Statues in India

1. Statue of Unity

One of the tallest statues in the world, the Statue of Unity is 597 feet high. It is a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai who served as the country’s first deputy prime minister as well as home minister. Sardar Patel’s contribution was invaluable to shaping the country as we know it today.

The statue itself is made of steel and concrete and was designed by sculptor Ram V. Sutar. The construction was carried out by the engineering firm Larson & Toubro. One of the best parts is the location that overlooks the Sardar Sarovar Dam which is also named after Sardar Patel.

It is also one of the places that the tourists love visiting thanks to the long list of things to do here such as visiting the museum, light and sound show, visiting valley of flowers, as well as Sardar Sarovar Dam. The entry fee for the Statue of Unity is priced between INR 150 to 1500 for adults. The opening time is 8:00 AM and the closing time is 6:00 PM between Tuesdays and Sundays.

2. Statue of Equality

The Statue of Equality has been another gorgeous addition to the already beautiful city of Hyderabad. The statue is of the vaishnavite Ramanuja who lived around the 11th century. The cost of the statue has crossed INR 1000 Cr while the majority of the funds were raised by the devotees. The statue was commissioned by the Chinna Jeeyar trust, whose premises also house the statue.

The statue is made out of panchaloha which means a mixture of five metals which is considered auspicious in the Hindu religion. The great news is that you can visit the Statue of Equality free of any entry fee. The entry timing is 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM between Mondays to Fridays except for Wednesday when it is closed. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can visit the place between 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM.

3. Statue of Peace

Situated in Rajasthan, the Statue of Peace is a 151 inches tall statue of Jain monk Acharya Shree Vijay Vallabh Surishwer Ji Maharaj. It was unveiled by the honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2020. The statue is made of Ashtadhatu which translates to eight metals. To visit this statue you need to visit the Vijay Vallabh Sadhana Kendra in Pali, Rajasthan.

4. Atal tunnel

Atal tunnel or Rohtang tunnel is a 9.02 kilometers long tunnel that is located on the Leh-Manali highway. It is the longest single-tube tunnel in the world that is located above the altitude of 10,000 feet. It reduces the travel time from the earlier route by 3 to 4 hours as well as traffic and avalanche-prone areas. The road is named after the former prime minister of India, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

5. Adi Shankaracharya statue in Kedarnath

A 12 feet high statue of Adi Shankaracharya has been erected at Kedarnath which happens to be his Samadhi Sthal. Kedarnath happens to be a jyotirlinga and therefore received thousands of devotees every year. The Samadhi Sthal, as well as the Kedarnath temple, were damaged in the 2013 deluge.

6. National War Memorial

The memorial is designed with concentric circles depicting chakravyuh a war formation from ancient India and is called Amar Chakra, Veerta Chakra, Tyag Chakra, and Rakshak Chakra. It is definitely among the best places to visit in India.

7. Kashi Vishwanath Corridor

The ancient Vishwanath temple of Varanasi has also been developed as the Kashi Vishwanath corridor, connecting the main temple with the ghats along the holy river Ganges. It allows pilgrims and tourists to move easily in and out of the temple through the ghats by removing the congested street. The best things to do here include praying at the temple following a dip in the holy Ganges.
