1. Jama Masjid, New Delhi

Jama Masjid was built in 1644 by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan. Today, it is the largest mosque in India and one of the top attractions in the capital city of India, Delhi. The mosque boasts the capacity to accommodate at least 25,000 devotees at the time of prayers and even during religious events. You can see four grand towers, three beautiful tall gates, and the marble décor which looks absolutely exquisite. 2. Mecca Masjid, Hyderabad

Mecca Masjid, also spelled as maccah masjid, is popular for being one of the oldest mosques in the country. The mosque was constructed by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. It was named mecca because the bricks and even the soil were transported from Mecca while it was being constructed. The mosque has arched galleries, a huge prayer hall, octagonal balconies, passageways, minarets, and dome structures. Apart from these, the external design of the mosque is equally spectacular.

3. Jamali-Kamali Mosque, Delhi

It is one of the most ancient mosques in Delhi. However, the major parts of the mosque are in its ruins now. The mosque and the two tombs that adjoin it, named Jamali and Kamali were built with red sandstone and red marble.  From the prayer hall to the domes and even the courtyard of the mosque is something that you must see.

4. Adhai Din ka Jhonpra, Ajmer

On your trip to Ajmer Sharif Dargah, you can find Adhai Din ka Jhonpra. Some parts of this mosque are already in ruins; however, you will still be able to witness the architectural glory. It took seven years to build this mosque.

5. Bara Imambara, Lucknow

Bara Imambara was built in 1784 by the 4th Nawab of Awadh, Nawab Asaf-Ud-Dowhala. The other name of this famous mosque in India is Asafi Imambara. Apart from being beautiful, this is also one of the largest unsupported structures in the country. The mosque is built of Lakhnawi bricks and lime plaster. Ant beam was not at all used to make the roof, neither any metal nor wood element was used.

6. Hazratbal Masjid, Srinagar

This is one of the most beautiful mosques in the world, not just for its architecture but also for its location. The mosque is located on the bank of Dal Lake. The mosque has one dome and one minaret. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the Dal Lake from the mosque.

7. Taj-ul-Masajid, Bhopal

This pink mosque is one of a kind since it is decorated with vintage motifs which were taken from Syrian mosques. This mosque has huge minarets that are octagonal and also has nine cusped multiple entrances, arched doorways, central prayer hall. You will even be able to come across fresco paintings as well as Islamic inscriptions.

8. Jama Masjid, Ahmedabad

Jama Masjid in Ahmedabad is one of the largest mosques in the country. It was built in 1424 by Emperor Sultan Ahmed Shah. 9. Jumma Masjid, Bangalore

10. Cheraman Juma Mosque, Thrissur
